About the blog

155 Glenn Carson Road, Prospect, Virginia (photograph taken May 4, 2016)

The house at 155 Glenn Carson Road was built in 1890 in the village of Prospect, Virginia, and is situated a few hundred feet from what was once the Norfolk & Western Railroad Line, a U.S. Class I railroad, formed by more than 200 railroad mergers between 1838 and 1982. The line was headquartered in Roanoke, Virginia, for most of its 150-year existence. The Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke features exhibits about the history of the line. This blog is an account of the renovation project for the house, which I purchased in April, 2016.
